For a while now we've been seeing a surge in popularity of a pink colour palette in menswear and shows alike. Fashion portrayed on the catwalk is generally a bit OTT but is always a strong indication to what colours and shapes we will be seeing in the forthcoming seasons. The colour pink has been no exception. Back in the 19th century, pink was a colour associated with masculinity (boys were actually dressed in pink as children), but since pink dominated the menswear runways in 2016 it seems men everywhere are finally becoming accustomed to wearing the colour. In fact over the last two years pink has seen a huge revival in both designer and high street stores with shades of the stuff popping up everywhere.

When talking pink, Mr Porter style director Dan May says “No colour is off limits. It’s just the way you style it and the confidence with which you pull it off.” 

Like skin, pink comes in many shades and the key to making pink work for you is ensuring it’s the right one. “Picking the wrong shade can bleach out your skin tone and work against your complexion,” says Farfetch menswear editor Tony Cook.. “For paler skin, a stronger, deeper tone works best. A pale pink shade, like Worboys linen Antibes, complements a post-holiday glow and darker skin.

 

Pink is a bold colour, so it's easiest to wear when paired with a darker colour, most notably navy. At the beginning of the year, we decided that we wanted to create a new tone of photography for Worboys. By ‘tone’ we mean the type of photography that encompasses everything we want to say about who we are. We wanted our photography to be the back drop to our lifestyle, subtle and beautifully executed. Another important aspect of our campaign was to show you fresh and interesting ways of styling our shirts. How a simple jacket, or a nice pair of chino’s can really lift and bring the shirts to life.

Another big decision was to use ‘real’ people rather than go down the traditional route of hiring professional models. This led us onto our highly successful ‘model search’ via social media.  To say we were blown away by the response was an understatement, we received 100’s of applicants which left us completely spoilt for choice! 

After shortlisting the entries, we decided on our two lucky winners, Pav and Hugo. Both were an absolute pleasure to work with, full of energy and lots of fun. We also have to thank our fantastic photographer, Brett, who worked the shoot perfectly – creating the exact ‘tone’ and ‘feel’ we were looking to achieve.

1. New product photography

We love our shirts and we want to show them off as best as we can. We’ve installed a better magnifying system to show off our exciting prints and made sure we’ve included photographs of the shirts on a mannequin, giving you a better idea of style and fit. Which brings us on to number 2…

 

2. Meet 'Hughie’ our inconspicuous new team member

He’s worn all of our shirts and we all agree that he looks great, red seems to suit him best, making ‘London’ his favorite. A key team member, he'll be joining us at all of our shows, making Hughie our official team mascot.

3. Easy to navigate- Better filter system

Our site is now even easier to navigate with a product filter now installed. Now you will be able to quickly find what’s available in your size without the hassle of going through our entire collection.

Oh, just in case you’re wondering, it a YES! Lots of new styles are currently being made and coming your way. We can’t wait for them to arrive on the new site.

 

4. Big on visuals.

We wanted our website to be all about the visuals. It's important to us that we had plenty of space to upload beautiful images of our shirts. We’ve also spent time to create a new ‘tone’ of photography, styling our shirts and models accordingly. We wanted to show you how we style our shirts set against gorgeous backdrops that tell a story as well as being a feast for the eyes.

As part of our new look we are launching our journal, documenting our journey as well as interesting things we pick up on the way. We hope you enjoy our journey as much as we are.
